Release Notes October 2024

Feature highlight: Automatic route planner

WHAT’S NEW

We launched a new, more generic route planner. While the initial version was focused on building tours based on packages, our new feature automatically merges bookings into one or multiple optimized tours based on the number of available drivers and their shift constraints. This new feature is currently in beta and available upon request. If you'd like to try it out, please contact our Customer Success team.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT

We recognize the importance of tools that simplify planning for dispatchers and drivers. These tools must create optimized routes to ensure bookings are completed on schedule while considering drivers' capacities and shifts. The introduction of this planner marks an important step towards providing a more comprehensive suite of automation features.

WHAT’S NEXT

As we move forward, we'll continue to enhance the intelligence of our automatic planning features. For example, 1-click actions used for merging bookings into tours will soon start suggesting the most suitable target tours.

More features and updates

Bookings can’t be given to drivers anymore

We’ve fully transitioned to a new operational structure where bookings can no longer be assigned to drivers directly. Every booking must now be converted into a new tour or merged into an existing tour. This change, initially announced a few months ago, streamlines the dispatchers' experience, making it easier to handle customer requests according to the internal Tour services.

Zones

In the next days, we'll introduce support for zones – geographical areas where stops of bookings, tours, and packages are located. Unlike service areas, zones won't initially impact booking prices or influence matching. Their main purpose will be tour planning. For example, a service area can be split into multiple zones, and tours can be built per zone, ensuring that a driver focuses on a reasonably sized area for fast tour execution.

Price updates on operationally completed bookings

Dispatchers can now update the final price of a booking once all its stops are finished. The booking will enter a dedicated state, where it awaits dispatcher confirmation. This confirmation can also be automated based on custom rules. The feature is configurable per Booking service and useful when the final price depends on the actual scope of completed work.

More flexible 1-click Merge actions

We've expanded the range of tour and stop statuses compatible with 1-click Merge actions on the Dashboard. These actions can now be done on any tours that aren't operationally completed or canceled. Additionally, actions now support merging stops in the Approaching status.

Requiring and prefilling Stop Contact Details by stop type and service

Stop contact details can now be set as required for specific stop types, with backend validations enforcing this rule. Additionally, we made it configurable whether the Webbooker should prefill the fields with customer details. This configuration is also done per stop type, and it’s independent of whether contact details are required.
