Feature highlight: Return Flow
🆕 What's new
We're working on a standardized return flow – a dedicated process for when a driver needs to return an undeliverable order back to the original pickup location. This will create a consistent, platform-defined path for handling failed deliveries across all tenants.
🦾 Why this is important
Returns touch many different failure scenarios – missed deliveries, failed verifications, wrong addresses – and each one deserves a consistent, reliable path. Without a platform-defined flow, we also can't integrate returns into other workflows, such as the upcoming DOB Handshake feature.
🔜 What's next
We'll start with the core return flow and build from there. Redelivery attempts are next in line, and we'll continue expanding coverage to other failed delivery scenarios over time. As always, we'd love to hear about specific use cases from your operations, so reach out if you have something in mind!
More features and updates
Order-based capability upgrading
We've started rolling out automatic capability upgrading, which adjusts the required driver capability based on order details such as item count and value. For example, an order that exceeds what a bike courier can reasonably handle will automatically require a car driver instead. This increases the likelihood that the assigned driver can fulfil the order, reducing failed deliveries due to capacity mismatches.
Target organization for driver invitations
Organization managers with multiple managed organizations can now specify which organization to invite a driver to. This is available via the API today – Dashboard support is coming in the next few weeks. Previously, invited drivers were always assigned to the manager's first managed organization. If the target organization is not specified, the behavior remains unchanged.
booking.in_progress webhook now fires for mid-route dispatches
The booking.in_progress webhook has been extended to fire not only when a tour initially transitions to En Route, but also when bookings are dispatched into an already active tour. This ensures integrations receive consistent notifications for all bookings, regardless of when they were added to the tour.
Updated Add Stop modal on Booking and Tour details pages
We've improved the experience for adding a stop to an existing booking or tour. The updated modal now previews the stop location on the map and allows linking the stop to a Place, keeping the location data clean and consistent.
