This article explains what our Driver Ranking & Gradual rollout feature is and how you can enable it.

Overview

Introduction

Driver ranking sorts drivers for each Pickable tour based on their distance from the first stop. Drivers in the Preferred drivers list will be displayed according to this order.

When ranking is enabled, you can additionally enable the Gradual rollout feature, which automatically selects the next highest-ranked available driver as preferred after each recalculation. This gives drivers fair access to tours while maintaining the ranked order.

Details

The system automatically assigns delivery tours to available drivers in the most efficient way possible. Here's how the latest version - the sequential mode - works:

How Tours Get Assigned

  1. Find All Possible Matches: The system looks at all available tours and drivers in the service area, then calculates how well each driver matches with each tour based on distance and other factors.

  2. Rank Every Combination: Each possible "tour + driver" pairing gets a score. Lower scores mean better matches (closer distance, better fit).

  3. Select the Best Pairs: Starting with the highest-ranked matches, the system assigns one tour per driver, making sure no driver gets multiple tours and no tour gets assigned to multiple drivers at once.

  4. Wait and Repeat: After assignments are made, the system waits 15 seconds (this interval is configurable), then recalculates and assigns the next best matches for any remaining tours.

Key Benefits

  • Ensures the closest available driver gets each tour

  • Prevents the same driver from being offered too many tours at once

  • Automatically adapts if drivers don't accept their assigned tours

  • Processes all tours in your service area together for maximum efficiency

Smart Filtering

The system only considers drivers who:

  • Are in the correct service area

  • Have the right capabilities for the tour

  • Belong to the appropriate managing organization

  • Haven't already been offered that specific tour

This gradual rollout approach ensures tours get filled efficiently while giving drivers time to respond to offers.

How to enable it

If you want to use the feature please contact our support team first.

Go to the Ops configuration details of the Ops configuration you are using.

Click on the Dispatching tab and enable Driver ranking and Gradual Rollout

Then, set a recalculation interval in seconds (between 10 and 300) which will determine how frequently the driver rank will be recalculated for each pickable tour in this service area.

Hit Save.

Next, make sure that the tour service you are using has the Ops configuration set to the one where you enabled the driver ranking and gradual rollout feature.

Go to the Service details of the tour service you are using.

Click on the Service areas tab and make sure the enabled service areas have the right Ops configuration set (in this example the Default 24/7 configuration).

If you change something, donโ€™t forget to hit Save.

Please note that the latest version, the "sequential mode" cannot yet be activated in a self-serving way. Please contact us if you want to give it a try.
