Overview
What are Places?
Places allows Admins and Customers to create and save an address for future use, which shows up as a suggested location and pre-fills information when creating a booking or package, as well as editing tours.
In a Place you can store:
the name of the Place
if the Place is a Hub (a centralized location where your drivers start bookings)
Location (full address of the Place)
Contact details of a person at the Place (visible to drivers)
Working hours
Metadata
Places Levels
Places can be managed on two levels:
Admins can create and manage Places both at the Tenant level and within a Customer’s profile.
Customers can only create and manage Places in their own profile through the Customer Portal.
What are Places used for?
Creating a Booking
When creating Bookings in the Webbooker, Places will appear as a suggestion when adding a Stop. Admins booking on behalf of customers can use both the customer’s saved Places and account-level Places.
There are two ways to use Places in the Webbooker:
Linking mode: The stop is directly linked to the Place. Bookings with this stop are easy to find, but the Place details cannot be changed.
Pre-fill mode: The Place details (like contact info) are copied into the booking. The Place isn’t linked, so it won’t appear in Place searches, but the details can be edited for that booking.
By default, the linking mode is activated. If you want to use the Pre-fill mode, please contact our support team.
When creating a Booking via API, a stop can be created by mentioning the place_id
of a validated Place instead of an address.
Filtering Bookings and Tours
In the Dashboard, you can filter Bookings and Tours by Places created at the account level or by Customers. This only works if the Place is linked to a stop, not if it was just used in pre-fill mode (see Creating a Booking).
The Places filter can be enabled via the Display settings in the Dashboard:
Showing Dispatchers relevant locations
On the Operations page in the Dashboard, Places appear as pins for the selected Service area:
Warehouse icon = Hub
User icon = Customer Place
Star icon = Regular Place
Hover over the pin to see the name of the Place. Click on the Pin to view the address, and by clicking again, the Place detail page will open up.
Showing Drivers relevant locations
Places that are both within the driver's current service area and closest to the driver's current location can also be displayed on the Map in the Driver App. Learn how to enable this feature here.
Creating and managing Places
Places have their own page on the Dashboard, which you can access by clicking on Places in the Navigation Menu. Here you can create new Places and manage existing ones. They can also be created directly from the Webbooker while creating a Booking.
