Overview

Introduction

You cannot delete or remove a service area because service areas are linked to completed bookings and tours. Removing a service area would cause these records to reference missing data, making them incomplete.

We currently don't offer a feature to archive service areas. However, you can take areas offline and, if applicable, repurpose them for new areas you want to create.

Disable a Service Area

You can take a service area offline by disabling it in the booking and tour services you are using. This is only possible when all requests have been completed or cancelled.

If you still have open bookings or tours, first disable "Accepting new service requests" and return to fully disable the area once the remaining bookings and tours are completed.

Disable for a Booking Service

Go to SettingsBooking services.

Open the booking service, go to the Service areas tab, and disable the area.

Disable for a Tour Service

Go to SettingsTour services.

Open the tour service, go to the Service areas tab, and disable the area.

Rename the Service area

Since the service area will still appear in the service area filter across the Dashboard, it makes sense to indicate in its name that it is offline or "archived."

Go to Settings > Service areas > Open the details page of the service area and add e.g. (archived) to the name. Don’t forget to Save your changes.

Repurpose a Service area

You can also repurpose the service area you want to remove by renaming it and adding new area boundaries for a different location.

Keep in mind that the service area will remain connected to completed bookings and tours, so the service area information on those records will change accordingly.

If maintaining intact records is important to you, do not repurpose a service area. Alternatively, you can wait until the data retention period expires and all old records referencing the service area are deleted.
