This article explains the concept of Booking and Tour Services.

Overview

What is a Service?

A Service in MotionTools represents the actual Service that is offered and fulfilled by the Operator. Services requested by customers are called Bookings, while Services that are fulfilled by drivers are called Tours. A typical approach for operators to increase efficiency, is to bundle multiple bookings into optimized tours and only then assign those tours to a specific driver or organization.

That means: Booking services are customer-facing and enable them to request specific services that an Operator chooses to offer. Tour services help dispatchers organize these bookings into efficient routes for drivers and coordinate with suppliers.

MotionTools allows you to configure various aspects of a Service (such as required proof of completion, offered capabilities, etc.) to better reflect your business needs. In a standard configuration, there typically exists one default booking service and one default tour service which you can adapt to your business. Note that at least one booking service and one tour service must be configured and enabled for the system to work properly. If you need multiple services to reflect your operations, please contact our support team.

To find the default services, you can go to the Settings page of your tenant and the sections Booking services and Tour services.
